This type of guardrail structure has both infill bars and an additional section for viewing (sight top) within its construction. It is available with either in-line infill bars or staggered infill bars.
Having a sight top across the upper part of the frame means that visibility for both vehicles and pedestrians is increased; particularly around schools and other areas where there are more likely to be children present. This guardrail also supplies protection and indicates where pedestrians are safe to travel; as well as offering a form of handrail support. It is commonly used on roads which contain bends.
